Well, it's finally happened.
I've been a Chiefs fan since 1967 when I watched the first Super Bowl (even though it wasn't called that back then). I was 13 years old and was going to watch color TV for the first time. All I knew was that Green Bay was playing somebody. Since Green Bay seemed to win all the time I decided to root for whoever the other team was. It was the Chiefs (thank God it wasn't the Raiders). I liked the way they looked and I liked the way they played. I've been a Chiefs fan ever since.
This is my official notice that I will no longer watch them on TV or listen to them on radio for the rest of this season. It's too disheartening. And I've been through the Todd Blackledge era. There's no reason to waste my time and my willingness to support them through thick or thin this year. When they get me a quarterback who can throw and a coach who can call plays besides the two yard backwards pass to a running back I might reconsider.
Losing to Denver and the Packers is one thing. But the Bears???!!?? Up 17-3 in the middle of the third quarter and you then go three and out five times in a row? Andy Reid was playing "Let's just burn up the clock for, I don't know, a quarter and a half. Yeah, that's the way to win football games in the NFL".
You hang on hoping for one first down or some kind of a sustained drive. All all you get is disappointment.
I plan on being back next season. But I'm boycotting the rest of this year. It hurts too much.
