www.kansascity.com/sports/football/story/483260.htmlWashington hires Jim Zorn as coachWashington’s monthlong search for a new coach ended Saturday. Jim Zorn agreed to a five-year contract and will replace Joe Gibbs. He will be introduced at a news conference at 2 p.m. today. “I’ve always dreamed of being a head coach with a franchise rich in tradition like (this),” Zorn said in a news release. “As a player who had to fight (Washington) teams at RFK as well as at our home field, I know about the history of this franchise as well as the passion of its fans. I won’t let you down.” Zorn, a former Seattle quarterback, was the Seahawks’ quarterbacks coach for the last seven years. Washington hired him on Jan. 26 to be its offensive coordinator — his highest coaching position until now — while continuing its search for a head coach. Snyder and his advisers settled on Zorn, 54, after completing the last of their initial interviews, with New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Snyder had to wait until the Super Bowl was over to interview Spagnuolo, who withdrew from consideration Thursday and decided to remain with the Giants. | The Associated Press
