In a press release distributed Monday, the Liberty School District announced Pat Hansen has resigned as coach. Hansen has been the head football coach at Liberty for the last eight seasons and a part of the Liberty football program for the last 17 years. In the release, it states that “personal reasons and commitments outside of football” were the reasons for his resignation. This season the Blue Jays finished 3-7. Liberty athletic director Steve Butler wouldn’t comment on Hansen’s resignation but said he would attest to Hansen’s dedication. “He’s just done a good job,” Butler said. “We’re hoping we can find someone as good as him. He’s given 17 years of his life to it (the program) and done everything we could have asked him to do here.” According to the release, Hansen will continue to teach classes at Liberty next year. Phone calls to Hansen were not returned.
