Bouchard, the football coach who led Harrisonville to three consecutive Missouri Class 3 state titles, announced Friday that he was leaving to become the first coach at the soon-to-be opened Staley High School. “For a good part of the last five years, I’ve said no pretty quickly (to other jobs),” Bouchard said. “That’s high school and college. I guess in this place, it just didn’t come out of my mouth. I decided to take a look at it, and the more I looked at it after our season, the more I felt like there was a real possibility there.” At Harrisonville, Bouchard did nothing but win. The Wildcats are in the midst of a 41-game winning streak and have been in the Class 3 playoffs the last five years with four titles. Against Class 3 opponents, Harrisonville has only one loss in its last 68 games. Staley is a new high school in the North Kansas City District. The high school will house a second North Kansas City District football stadium, with a seating capacity of 6,000. The school will open for the 2008-09 school year. While the announcement was emotional for all those involved Friday, senior captain Brian Kagarice said he understood Bouchard’s decision. “I think it is better for his family,” Kagarice said. “I don’t hold any hard feelings against him.”
