www.kansascity.com/sports/royals/story/494626.htmlRoyals camp update: Seven signings announcedBy BOB DUTTON The Kansas City Star SURPRISE, Ariz. | The Royals began paring their list of unsigned players Monday by announcing one-year agreements with seven players on their 40-man roster: Catcher Matt Tupman, first baseman/outfielder Justin Huber, third baseman Mario Lisson, outfielder Mitch Maier and pitchers Tyler Lumsden, Neal Musser and Julio Pimentel. All seven players have less than three years of big-league service and can be renewed at terms of the club’s discretion. Such deals, generally, are for roughly the major-league minimum, which rises this year to $390,000. The Royals still have 14 unsigned players. New arrivalsThree players checked into camp before Monday’s workout: shortstop Tony Peña, infielder Jason Smith and Lisson. That leaves just four players from the 63-player camp roster absent before full-squad workouts begin Tuesday: second baseman Mark Grudzielanek, outfielder Jose Guillen, infielder Alberto Callaspo and first baseman Mike Stodolka. All are expected to be in uniform for Tuesday’s workout, although Callaspo was scheduled for a visa hearing Monday in the Dominican Republic.
