BRADY McCOLLOUGH The Kansas City Star LAWRENCE | Kansas defensive coordinator Bill Young has accepted an offer from Miami coach Randy Shannon to be the Hurricanes’ defensive coordinator. “I tentatively have taken the job, but it’s not official,” Young told The Star in an interview from his home in Lawrence on Thursday evening. Young, 61, said that there are some administrative “hoops” that Miami has to jump through before the school can make the hiring official. Young came to Kansas with Mark Mangino in 2002 and spent the last six years building KU into one of the most overachieving units in the country. A finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, given annually to the nation’s top assistant, Young coached the Jayhawks to a No. 12 ranking in total defense and a No. 4 ranking in scoring defense in 2007
