College buzz: Kansas football player arrested Jayhawk cornerback arrested
Kansas redshirt freshman cornerback Phillip Strozier, a graduate of Rockhurst High, was arrested Saturday in Lawrence on charges of theft and removal of a theft deception device. A case has yet to be filed in Douglas County District Court, so no further details were available. Strozier was released on $2,000 bond on Saturday night. Strozier, a first-team all-metro selection by The Star his senior year, played in nine games this season and had five tackles and two pass breakups.
Punter picks KU
With the graduation of punter Kyle Tucker, the KU football team needed to sign a punter in its 2008 class. It looks as if the Jayhawks will do just that, as junior-college punter Alonso Rojas gave an oral commitment to KU, according to Rivals.com.
Rojas, a Miami native, went to Bowling Green his freshman year and won the job as a freshman. He then transferred to Miami Dade Community College, where he became one of the top junior-college kickers in the nation. Rojas chose KU over UNLV and Colorado State.
