Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with TE Michael Allan, adding him to the club’s 53-man roster from the practice squad. Per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available. In addition, Kansas City added T Joe Lobdell to the practice squad.
Allan (6-6, 254) originally joined the Chiefs as the club’s seventh-round pick (231st overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was inactive for the club’s season opener at Houston (9/9) and joined the practice squad on September 12th. Allan saw action in 36 games (29 starts) at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, catching 118 passes for 2,202 yards (18.7 avg.) with 29 TDs. He concluded his collegiate career as Whitworth’s record holder in career touchdown receptions (29) and yards per catch (18.7). He also set a single-season school record with 15 TD catches in 2005. Allan prepped at Interlake High School in Bellevue Washington.
Lobdell (6-5, 280) rejoins the Chiefs practice squad after spending three weeks on the club’s developmental squad earlier this season. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent in 2007 with the Indianapolis Colts and spent the first week of the 2007 NFL season on that club’s practice squad. The Northern Iowa product saw action in 35 contests (24 starts) for the Panthers, logging 21 starts at offensive tackle and three at tight end. He was an honorable mention All-Gateway Conference selection as a junior after switching to the offensive side of the ball from defensive tackle. Lobdell prepped at Lena-Winslow High School in Lena, Illinois.
