Herm's Terms
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the Detroit Lions:
They’re going to come out very, very fast. We have to slow them down. Defensively, we have to get off the field. And offensively, we have to stay on the field.
On Larry Johnson’s chances of playing this week:
I think the more he goes through individual things and more strenuous situations, through the whole week, we’ll see if he has soreness after every day. He’s gone through one or two days. He’s never gone the whole week. We’ll have to find out where that’s at. Whatever the decision becomes, it’s got to be best for the player first. That’s how you make these types of decisions. We don’t have to make that right now. It’ll be more than he’s done in previous (practices). He’s done individual (work) for the most part. He feels a lot better than he felt four weeks ago.
On the reaction to Edwards’ message last week fans should “Get over it”:
The way fans took it, in my opinion, was probably wrong. I think our fans are great. They have a lot of passion, they have a lot invested in this football team, which we all do. I just think that when you’re going through tough times, it’s no different if you’re a football coach or you’re a fan: You have to get over that part of it and get ready to prepare to win games. That’s what we’re trying to do. If it was misinterpreted, I apologize.
On his preseason expectations and how the Chiefs measured up:
I thought some things had to fall right for us to be in the playoffs, for us to be a playoff team. … You know all those things have to come together for you to have a real good shot, to get one of those spots. It didn’t work out, and that’s what we’re suffering for right now.
