Last year’s team was pretty tough, but a lot of these guys are from last year’s team. It has potential to be that. Certainly this could be as good a team as I’ve ever had.” •The Jayhawks are 17-0, and Self was asked whether that makes it harder for a coach to get his kids to improve. “I think sometimes, the sting of a loss may get guys’ attention better,” Self said, “but I also think it’s easier to get on a team and be hard on a team after winning than it is after losing. After a tough defeat, it’s pretty magnified that that was not a good day or good night. Whereas here, it’s pretty magnified when they do well that it was great, and it’s never that great. I think I’m much harder on our team after a win than I am after a loss.” • The KU veterans have already told freshman Cole Aldrich what to expect from the students at Missouri on Saturday. “I’ve been told,” Aldrich said, “they’ll find out things that possibly you don’t even know about.”
