www.kansascity.com/166/story/492177.htmlKU plans to celebrate its history todayKU hoops history will be on display today At halftime of Kansas’ game today, the Jayhawks will celebrate 110 years of KU basketball by welcoming more than 230 former players, coaches and managers back to Allen Fieldhouse. The celebration will also serve as the 20-year reunion of the 1988 national championship team. The Jayhawks will be wearing retro uniforms today to honor the 1988 team. KU coach Bill Self was excited for his current players to get a chance to meet all of the old-timers. “I don’t think that we look at the reunion as what players that have had their numbers in the rafters are coming back,” Self said. “I think you look at the guys that walked on and gave themselves to the school for four years, or a guy that was a backup point guard. The nonheralded guys. When you get a bunch of guys in a room, they’re the same. They’re just guys that have given their blood, sweat and tears to a place that’s bigger than them.”
