In a statement issued after the team arrived here for Wednesday’s game against Nebraska, Anderson indicated the separation stemmed from Hannah’s lack of academic commitment. Not for the Jan. 27 fight at the Athena Night Club in Columbia, an incident in which Hannah suffered a broken jaw. He and fellow senior guard Jason Horton later were arrested on suspicion of third degree assault. “Young people make mistakes,” Anderson said. “It is part of the maturation process as a youth. But when we came to Missouri we promised the parents, our administration and our fans that we would help turn these boys into men by the time they left our program. “Part of being a young man is accepting consequences for your actions, not compounding them.” Hannah left Columbia a day after the night club incident, and had missed 12 days of school through Tuesday. “We certainly hope he decides to remain in school to work towards his degree,” Anderson further stated. MU will honor Hannah’s scholarship assistant through the current academic year if Hannah chooses to remain enrolled at MU. Hannah, who played in 20 games before missing the last four because of suspension and injury, remains MU’s leading scorer (14.7) and assist man (105).
