Longhorns’ muddy landing
A jet carrying the Texas’ women’s basketball team got stuck in the mud Tuesday night when the plane rolled off the taxiway at Lincoln (Neb.) Airport. No injuries or damage were reported. The No. 15 Longhorns were on a charter flight from Austin and played at Nebraska on Wednesday night.

•Clemson running back James Davis has decided to give up his senior season to enter the draft. Davis, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons, is projected as a third-round pick.

Mallett leaves Michigan
Quarterback Ryan Mallett has left the Michigan football program, and he might be reunited with his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Tennessee.
“He’s on his way home,” his father, Jim Mallett, told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “We don’t know where he’s going to go yet, but we need to do something quick. We’re going to visit three, four or five schools.”
Mallett, a former Texas Class 4A offensive player of the year, may end up with the Volunteers, who are considering hiring former Michigan offensive coordinator Mike DeBord and quarterbacks coach Scott Loeffler.
Sooner in trouble
A warrant was issued Wednesday for Oklahoma sophomore defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger, who missed a court date following his shoplifting arrest in Tempe, Ariz.
Acting deputy Jeanette Wiesenhofer of the Tempe (Ariz.) Municipal Court said Granger would need to reschedule his arraignment and pay $1,000 to resolve the warrant, or he could appear before a judge at or before a Jan. 18 bail bond forfeiture hearing to explain why he missed his original court date Tuesday.
Granger, who started 11 games for the Sooners, was suspended for the Fiesta Bowl. Police said Granger was arrested Dec. 29 after he removed an anti-theft device from a jacket and then tried to leave a store with the jacket stuffed in a bag.
Aggies hire ex-Huskers assistant
Buddy Wyatt was hired Wednesday as Texas A&M’s defensive line coach, returning to the position he held during 2000-02 under R.C. Slocum.
Wyatt, 41, was Nebraska’s defensive line coach last season and worked at Alabama during 2003-05.
