www.kansascity.com/167/story/458299.htmlMU basketball notesFirst halfKey play: Stefhon Hannah, unguarded from the right wing, drained a three-pointer with 53.2 seconds left to give Missouri a 40-37 halftime lead. Key stat: 20. The number of free throws Texas Tech shot, hitting 13. Second halfKey play: For everything good Keon Lawrence did on a Wednesday when he tied a career high with 24 points, missing back-to-back free throws with 1:24 to play and MU down by five wasn’t one of them. Key stat: 19-24. That’s the free-throw line for Texas Tech’s Martin Zeno, who took more and made more free throws than the entire Missouri team (12 of 15). Notes•For the second straight game, Vaidotas Volkus started instead of Leo Lyons. Against KU the move looked good as Volkus scored eight points on four-of-five shooting. Against Tech, the senior from Lithuania scored two points. •With 2:09 to play, DeMarre Carroll was called for his fifth foul trying to block a Martin Zeno layup. Surprising given MU’s foul troubles in Big 12 play, it was only the second time Carroll has fouled out of a game this season. •Missouri, now 11-8 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12, is 0-5 in true road games this season. The Tigers hit the road again on Saturday for a matinee tip-off at Colorado. Carroll came into the game having hit nine of 18 free throws in Big 12 play. He finished six of six against Texas Tech.
